Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Version V Testing Procedure

Logo: Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) @ SUNY OrangeThe Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a multiple-choice exam designed to measure the basic knowledge and skills of prospective nursing students. TEAS has a total of 170 questions covering reading, math, science, and English and language usage. The total time available to test is 209 minutes. 


To schedule a TEAS exam, please call our office at (845) 341-4890, or visit the George F. Shepard Student Center, Room 301A on the Middletown Campus. Test takers must pay a non-transferable SUNY Orange test proctoring fee of $25 prior to testing appointment.

The current TEAS testing schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, January 13th: 3:00 pm
  • Thursday, January 15th: 3:00 pm
  • Tuesday, January 20th: 10:00 am
  • Tuesday, January 20th: 3:00 pm
  • Thursday, January 22nd: 10:00 am
  • Thursday, January 22nd: 3:00 pm
  • Tuesday, January 27th: 10:00 am
  • Thursday, January 27th: 3:00 pm
  • Tuesday, January 29th: 10:00 am
  • Thursday, January 29th: 3:00 pm


Test takers may pay the SUNY Orange test fee by MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or money order. Test takers using a charge card must provide card number and expiration date, test taker's name, cardholder's name (if different from test taker's), and cardholder's zip code. All payments are to be made in the Student Services Central office and receipt must be presented to Test Center Administrator. Money orders should be made payable to SUNY Orange.

Prior to test day:

Test takers must create an ATI account by visiting† and following the Create an Account link. There is no cost for creating an ATI account.

On test day:

Test takers must bring a government-issued, photo identification (such as a driver's license or passport), as well payment for the $55 ATI exam fee. Payment can only be made by card. ATI accepts Visa, MasterCard, DiscoverCard, American Express, or Diner's Club Credit, debit, or pre-paid charge cards.

Note: Your exam will be scored immediately upon completion. You may view your scores at any time by signing into your ATI account at


Please be on time. If you arrive excessively late, the proctor may refuse to seat you in order to avoid disrupting the other candidates. It is recommended that you allow yourself approximately 4 hours total to complete your exam. Seating is limited, so please do not wait until the last minute to schedule.
