The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) located at:

The OTA program received a 10 year reaccreditation in 2004. The program is scheduled to be reaccredit in 2013/2014.
Certification
Graduates of the OTA Program are eligible to receive New York State certification from the State Education Department and to sit for the certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy:

Upon successful completion of the exam, the graduate receives national certification and may use the letters "COTA".
NOTE: Graduates of the OTA program are required to apply for NBCOT certification. Candidates applying for the Certification Examination must notify the NBCOT's Qualifications Review Committee (QRC) if they have ever been charged with or convicted of a felony. A felony conviction may prevent the candidate from taking the examination. Please consult the department chair if this may be an issue in successfully pursuing a career in occupational therapy.
Outcome Data
All data is from August 2007 to May 2009:
Total number of program graduates = 60
Total number of first-time test-takers of the NBCOT certification exam.= 53
Total number of first-time time-test takers who passed the NBCOT certification exam = 44
First-time test-taker percentage pass rate = 83%
Employment of graduates as OTAs within three months of graduation = 100%
Retention rate in the OTA program = 84% (25 students were admitted in Fall 2007 and 21 students successfully completed the program and sat for the NBCOT exam.)
