Phase One - Woodland Garden:

This native woodland environment which will contain a meandering path, and rustic benches is currently underway. Plants will include: Dutchman’s Breeches, Columbine, Violet, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Spring Beauty, Trout Lily, Indian Pipe, Trailing Arbutus, and several varieties of ferns.

Phase Two - Native Grassland:

This area will be dedicated to native grasses and sedges such as Purple lovegrass, Puffsheath dropseed, Pensylvania sedge and Sideoats grama.

Phase Three - Bird and Butterfly Garden

Look forward to lots of seasonal color in this are area which will feature a wide variety of sun loving perennials meant to attract butterflies and provide shelter and food for our winged friends. Bee balm, Cardinal flower, Milkweed, Coreopsis, Asters and Irises will be among the plantings.

Ecology Course - Fall 2008

If you like being outdoors exploring the world around you, are curious about how the environment works, and enjoy using your mind to solve problems you should consider taking ECOL•O•GY: from Greek oikos = house (place we live) logos = (study of) the branch of science studying interactions and relationships between organisms and their environment

3 lect., 3 lab., 4 cr. Topics include a study of individual, population, community and ecosystem ecology. Applications of ecology and the influence of humans on the biosphere will also be addressed.
