Who is Web Page Manager?

A Web Page Manager is a person who is responsible for updating a unit/department website.

What are Web Page Manager's responsibilities?

A Web Page Managers responsibilities include:

  • Attending training on Adobe Contribute
  • Updating their department/unit website on a regular basis
  • Be responsible for the content on the website

Does a Web Page Manager need to know HTML or have any specialized training?

Web Page Managers must be comfortable using a word processing program such as Microsoft Word or Corel Wordperfect. No specialized knowledge is required.

All new Web Page Managers will be required to attend a 3.5 hour training on using Adobe Contribute to update their department/unit websites.

Nobody in our department has time to serve as Web Page Manager. What do we do?

It is important to understand that once the website is created, it must be updated on a regular basis. Therefore a person overseeing these updates must be appointed. Please contact your supervisor to discuss the matter.

No new websites will be created unless a Web Page Manager has been assigned.

What is a storyboard?

A storyboard is a bulleted list or a flowchart that indicates how your website will be structured. It will also demonstrate how your web pages will be linked to one another. Here are 2 examples:

What is a website "shell"?

A website shell is a website with a navigational menu and the SUNY Orange banner, but with no content. Website shells are created based your the storyboards submitted by Web Page Managers and are then made available for updates.

I can't change the menu on the left. what do I do?

Contribute will not allow you to change the menu on the left. You need to contact the webmaster with the request.
