Rescheduled Lead Belly Concert

Dates: 03/09/2018 (Fri): 8:00 pm
Category: Campus Events

The music of Huddie William Ledbetter, the iconic Lead Belly, is featured in the concertThe Music of Lead Belly & more played by drummer Adam Nussbaum, saxophonist Ohad Talmor, and the electric guitar tandem of Steve Cardenas and Nate Radley.

Come to the William and Helen Richards Theatre at Orange Hall, SUNY Orange, at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 9. This concert has been rescheduled from stormy March 2.

Lead Belly played piano, mandolin, harmonica, violin, and diatonic accordion known as a windjammer, but was best known for his virtuosity on the twelve-string guitar.  Therefore, when Adam Nussbaum created the Lead Belly Project, he chose two of the finest electric guitarists. Steve Cardenas and Nate Radley plus sax player Ohad Talmor take a “firm grasp of the tradition and listen, react and respond,” according to Adam Nussbaum.  And with Nussbaum’s jazz background “he interprets old Lead Belly tunes, through a jazz lens,” states jazz pianist/composer and SUNY Orange music professor Chris Parker.

So come for a memorable evening of “Good Night Irene,”  “Bring Me A Little Water, Sylvie,"  “Black Betty,”  “Grey Goose,” and “Green Corn” to name a few.

All tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the box office beginning one hour before the concert, or online anytime at plus a $ 2.50 service charge for each online ticket. Free tickets for all students are available only at the box office.
