Website Redsign and CMS Implementation in Progress

College community,

SUNY Orange will be working with Focus Media, a local PR/marketing agency in Goshen (that has partnered with the College in the past on several marketing and public relations projects), to develop a redesigned College website.

Focus Media has an informed understanding of the College and its role in the community, and we are asking Focus to help us reimagine and shape our website so it becomes a more effective student-recruitment tool and admissions driver. We will also evaluate how best to provide necessary information that is required to be shown on the public-facing website for current students and the community. In addition, we will assess how we provide content that brings greater awareness of the College (Cultural events, arts, recreation, etc.) to the general community.

The new site design will be developed with a mobile-first approach so that it is responsive to phones, tablets, desktops and other devices. We expect to conclude this project with a contemporary website design that effectively showcases the College’s strengths for prospective students and families, and allows them to more effectively interact with us online.

Presently, Focus Media is in its “discovery” phase: speaking with internal and external audiences, and analyzing our website traffic analytics. The discovery phase will lead to the development of a proposed sitemap that the College will review before Focus moves to the actual page design stage. We hope to launch the redesigned site in conjunction with the opening of the Fall 2018 semester (date will be determined as we get closer to the Fall).

In order to share information with the College community regarding our progress on the redesign, we have established a “redesign update” page in MySUNYOrange. Updates will be posted there periodically, as well as shared via the Campus Grapevine and Student Grapevine. The link to the update page is: A link to this page will also appear under the MySUNYOrange A to Z portlet on your employee or student tab in MySUNYOrange.

Simultaneously with the redesign, the College will be replacing Adobe Contribute with a new Content Management System (CMS) called OUCampus. This new CMS will greatly enhance the effectiveness of the website while allowing web page managers to be significantly more efficient in their web duties. Additional information regarding OUCampus will be shared with web page managers as the process unfolds. Updates on the CMS project will also be shared on the MySUNYOrange link above.

If you have any questions regarding either project, feel free to contact me.
