Orange County Arts Council Members Art Show

The annual Orange County Arts Council Members Art Show opens on Friday, Jan. 5 in Orange Hall Gallery with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Artworks by 52 participating member-artists are on display through Feb. 2. Each artist is allowed to submit one piece. The exhibit visually demonstrates the broad variety of interests, abilities, and creativity of the artists through the diverse media used: paintings in pastel, watercolor, oil, and acrylic plus, color and black & white photography, sculpture, collage, and mixed media.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. During the reception, pianist          Bev Poyerd of Washingtonville will play classical music as well as jazz standards and show tunes. Artists will be present to speak with attendees about their art and share their mutual concepts on the arts particularly on working in the arts in Orange County which is a key factor propelling the Orange County Arts Council.

Dawn Ansbro, Executive Director of the Orange County Arts Council states, “We are so excited to be able to host this exhibit again in Orange Hall Gallery at SUNY Orange. It is a venue that is known for its rich and diverse cultural events and we are happy to be a part of the Cultural Affairs creative calendar.” Ansbro believes, “events like these support and promote the strong, thriving arts community in Orange County and that is at the heart of what the Arts Council does every day.” The Orange County Arts Council’s mission is to champion the arts, connect artists with audiences, and foster the growth of the county's creative resources.

Orange Hall is located on the Middletown campus of SUNY Orange (GPS: 24 Grandview Avenue). Gallery hours through Jan. 12 are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday plus Sunday, Jan. 14 from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Then, from Jan. 16 onward, gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays. The gallery is closed Jan. 15, Martin Luther King Day.
