SUNY Orange Orchestra Concert Nov. 4

The SUNY Orange Community Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4 at Middletown’s Paramount Theatre.

The concert begins the 21st season of the ensemble, and the introduction of its new conductor, Richard Milan Simons.

“The program will be an overture, of sorts,” according to Simons. “Just as an opera overture tells you what musical themes you will be hearing in the opera, the concert music presented - from my musical history to my Slavic heritage, and personal interests from Star Trek to railroads - will tell you a little something about what is to come.

"My predecessor, Hilarie Moore, started this orchestra, and she was the conductor for two decades. The musicians got to know her very well. Now, we need to learn about each other, and to initiate relationships that provide a strong foundation for our future.”

The Paramount Theatre, located at 17 South Street in Middletown, is universally accessible. Tickets are available at the Paramount Theatre Box Office $10 - General Admission; $5 - seniors (60+) and all other students with ID; free for active military, SUNY Orange students with ID, and children.

This concert is sponsored by the SUNY Orange Community College’s Arts and Communication Department.
