Announcement of New Tuition Payment Policy

Dear Students:

I am writing to inform you of a new tuition payment policy that will be implemented for the Fall 2017 semester. This email is but one of several communications directed to current and incoming SUNY Orange students in anticipation of Priority Registration which begins in April.

Beginning with the Fall 2017 semester SUNY Orange will no longer be accepting a $50 tuition deposit to secure course registration. Students will be able to register for Fall 2017 classes without making a $50 tuition deposit, but will also be required to make payment arrangements by the payment due date to avoid having their course scheduled deleted. We are taking this step to ensure that all students have met their financial obligations to the College prior to the start of the semester so they can focus on their academic work without interruption or distraction.

Finalizing payment is the last step in the registration process. There are several payment arrangement options to pay your student account bill. First and foremost, we encourage you to file for financial aid by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2017-18 academic year. If eligible you will be able to use federal and state grants and/or student loans to offset most or all of your tuition. Other payment options include paying your tuition in monthly installments by joining a monthly Payment Plan or, if you are able, paying your tuition in full by cash, check or credit card. Many students will use a combination of financial aid and personal funds to cover their student account bill.

Each student will receive an email after registration to assist them in meeting their financial obligation to the college, and a webpage will be developed to answer frequently asked questions, communicate payment plan schedules and provide links to the approved Tuition and Fee Schedule for the upcoming academic year.  Also college personnel in Student Accounts, the Financial Aid Office, and at Student Services Central are available to answer your questions about the payment options.

I trust that you will take some time in the coming weeks to review the information, share it with your family, and prepare for meeting with your academic advisor.

Best Regards,
