We Can All Do Our Part to Enhance College Safety and Security

College community

Crimes and thefts often increase during the holiday season. The safety and security of our community can be enhanced if we each do our part by constantly being aware of our surroundings and reporting suspicious activity, behavior or individuals to the SUNY Orange Safety & Security Department (341-4710 at the Middletown campus and 341-9533 at the Newburgh campus).

If you observe a suspicious person in a building, academic space or office, immediately call Safety & Security. Do not confront the individual.

Faculty and Staff, remember to ensure that all doors are securely closed when entering or exiting your office or building. This is especially important if you are working before or after normal working hours, weekends, or when the building is less occupied. Faculty and staff may also want to consider using the "buddy system", notifying your supervisor, another colleague or the Safety & Security office when you will be in the office beyond normal working hours.

By working together we can increase safety and security for all students, staff, faculty and the greater SUNY Orange community.

Have a safe and happy holiday.
