The Empty Chair Project Spreads Awareness of Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The Wellness Center recognizes this event with the Empty Chair Project, a week-long display that helps raise awareness and prevention of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other forms of interpersonal violence in our communities.

During the week of Oct. 24-28, 20 folding chairs will be assembled in the lobbies of Kaplan Hall and Rowley Center for Science and Engineering. They represent the 20 people each hour who become victims of domestic violence in the US. Each chair holds information about domestic violence and its impact on our society.

For more information please call the Wellness Center at (845) 341-4870.
