"Friends of a Feather" ~ Bird Paintings by Joseph Sundwall

To further experience art through ornithology, acclaimed artist Joseph Sundwall has installed a seventeen piece exhibit of oil paintings ranging in size from very small to very large of many kinds of birds in likewise diverse habitats. “Friends of a Feather” ~ Bird Paintings by Joseph Sundwall is on exhibit in Orange Hall Gallery Fringe Aug. 22 through Oct. 22.

Noted for his portraits, Sundwall brings a naturalness to the birds on which he focuses from diving seagulls to egrets about to take flight to carefully hidden bluejays to curious ibises. The lighting and use of color display the depth of his experience and talent.

Sundwall will be on hand for his reception combined with the reception for the "BIRDS: Enduring Feathered Creatures" on Friday, Sept. 16 from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. In addition, he will be giving an evening art master class on painting birds on Wednesday, September 28 in Orange Hall Gallery Fringe.  The reception, exhibit, and master class are free and open to the public.

A lifelong artist, Sundwall studied art and design at the Kansas City Art Institute, oil painting in New York City at the Art Students League and the National Academy, and in London at St. Oswald’s Studios. His works can be found in solo, group, and juried shows mainly in the Northeast. His paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and in Europe.
