Linda Dauer Named VP for Administration and Finance

Linda Dauer, most recently the finance director for the West Point Association of Graduates, will be SUNY Orange’s next vice president for administration and finance as announced by College President Dr. Kristine Young this week.

A certified public accountant with more than 30 years of experience within the public and private sectors, as well as higher education, Dauer brings extensive knowledge of budgeting, financial and strategic planning, forecasting, auditing, and business operations management to her new post. She is expected to arrive at SUNY Orange Aug. 8. She will serve as a member of Young’s executive leadership team and will oversee the business office, maintenance and facilities, safety and security, human resources, payroll and institutional research.

Dauer’s appointment comes less than seven weeks after the College had announced the hiring of Daniel Hall as its new vice president for administration and finance. However, Hall recently informed Young he would be unable to join the College’s administrative team.

“Fortunately, the College had unearthed another remarkably skilled and experienced candidate during the search process,” Young explained. “As is the case in many searches, the differences between the highly desirable candidates can be minute. Linda had greatly impressed me during the interview process, and I know that the search committee, as well as many others within our College community, found her to be a very worthy candidate.

“I am pleased that we were able to execute a swift resolution to our unexpected opening and I am supremely confident that Linda will be a tremendous asset to the College,” Young added.

Dauer joined the West Point AOG staff this past November after nearly 10 years at Plymouth State University, located in Plymouth, N.H. Her AOG duties included managing special projects and assuring compliance in the areas of retirement plans, insurance coverage and tax filings.

She joined the Plymouth State administration in May 2006 as director of budget and financial planning, a role she held for three years before being elevated to associate vice president for finance and administration. Dauer directed and managed the university’s fiscal operations for a $120 million budget. She also oversaw an array of administrative departments, including Budget and Accounting Services, Student Account Services, and Purchasing, Disbursements and Contract Services.

Prior to arriving at Plymouth State, she served as financial forecasting analyst for the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative; senior accountant for the firm of Kennedy and Coe, LLC, of Monte Vista, Colo.; and senior accountant for Dominion Bankshares Mortgage Corp., of Fairfax, Va.

Her community service has included more than 20 years as treasurer for several church finance committees and eight years as board member and treasurer for Mid State Health Center, a rural healthcare facility in Plymouth, N.H.

Dauer earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., and her MBA from Plymouth State. She is currently licensed as a CPA in the states of New Hampshire and New York.

She resides in Milford, Pa., with her husband Bill, who serves as director of Grey Towers National Historic Site. They are the proud parents of three adult children: Wesley (wife Alyssa and son William), Spencer and Rachel.
