Congratulations to 2016 Beacon Conference Participants

Congratulations to the SUNY Orange students who presented their research at the 24th annual Beacon Conference on Friday, June 3, at Bergen Community College.

The papers submitted by these students were selected for presentation at the conference from a competitive field of 120 submissions by students representing 14 community colleges across the northeast. 

The SUNY Orange student presenters, their topics, and their mentors were:

Carly Ryan, Tattoos: The Good, The Bad, and The Appropriated
Mentors:  Elaine Torda and Andrea Laruencell-Sheridan

Connor Rhodes, Beneficial Addiction to Thrill-seeking Behavior Psychology
Mentors:  Elaine Torda and John Pernice

Kathy Ciolkosz, Routine Childhood Vaccinations
Mentor:  Michele Iannuzzi Sucich

Michael Schlag, Veganism: Healthy, Sustainable, Ethical Change
Mentors:  Elaine Torda and Damon Ely

Shannon Sander, Effects of Exercise on the Brain
Mentor:  Sheila Stepp

In addition, Connor Rhodes, Michael Schlag, and Shannon Sander were recognized at the conference for their "Outstanding Paper and Presentation" in their respective submission categories.

Please Note: The 2017 Beacon Conference will held at SUNY Orange on Friday, June 2, 2017. Details will become available in the Fall 2016 semester.
