River Valley Artists Guild Summer 2016 Members Show

A dozen years ago a few artists in the western Orange County -- eastern Pike County area decided to form a new art group. The River Valley Artists Guild, as it came to be known, is open to visual artists and artisan crafts people. Most of the members live in the communities bordering the Delaware River. In addition, members also reside in other areas of Orange County, plus Sussex, Sullivan, and Westchester Counties. Led by hard-working, enthusiastic artist Joan Kehlenbeck of Cuddebackville, the group welcomes new members.

As the RVAG celebrates its twelfth anniversary with the "River Valley Artists Guild Summer 2016 Members Show," artworks will be displayed by 25 of its members in several media including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, photographs, fabric art, weaving, and jewelry. The venue is Orange Hall Gallery.

This year the exhibit runs June 12 through July 20.  Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In June and July, the College is closed on Fridays, and, of course on Independence Day, July 4.

Two members will be sharing their talents during the reception scheduled for Sunday, June 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.. Al Champy of Shohola, Pa., will give a demonstration of traditional watercolor on 140 lb. Arches cold press watercolor paper entitled “Barnyard Wonder.” Joan Kehlenbeck will explain through her “One Stroke Decorative Floral Designs” how she paints on wooden trays and containers in acrylic. In addition, music will be provided throughout by pianist Emily Landsman of the Hamlet of Wallkill.

The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
