SUNY Orange Business Students Compete in NYS Business Plan Competition

On April 11, six teams from SUNY Orange competed at the Marist Regional Business Plan Competition. Three teams from Middletown: Ad On Advertising, My Town Mocha and Free Human Foundation together with three teams from Newburgh: Riverview Café, Lifesavers Training and Face to Face, competed against 25 teams from Marist, Culinary Institute of America, Bard College and Ulster Community College.

Lifesavers Training advanced up to the state competition at SUNY Albany on April 25 in the Biotech/Health Services category.

The competition at the state level was intense. The competition consisted of 241 teams from Cornell, Syracuse, RPI, RIT, University of Rochester, Columbia, Stony Brook, Clarkson, NYIT, Marist, CNSE and many other colleges.  There were five teams from community colleges including Lifesavers Training, which consisted of Ezra Kuliszweski, Jennifer Gutierrez, Geovana Peralta, Teuta Ramusevic, and Benjamin Antzak.

The grand-prize winning team, Glauconix, came from the Biotech / Healthcare category and won $100,000 in cash and in-kind services.

In the end, Life Savers Training left without any awards, but the experience was priceless.

Both Life Savers Training and our other winning team, Ad On Advertising (awarded alternate status at the regional competition), are in talks with the Orange County Business Incubator at Stewart Airport in Newburgh to secure work space and financing so they can start their businesses.
