Impromptu Eco Mural Art Master Class Nov. 8 in Newburgh

As a working artist, Star Nigro is constantly thinking about the next piece. She visualizes beyond the face value of ordinary objects and lets her artwork evolve. She also follows this organic conceptualization when leading art workshops. On Thursday, Nov. 8, she will present an Eco Art Mural class that has structure, but is meant to have attendees think on the spot.

Come between 2:45 and 4:30 p.m. to the OBTC Great Room 101 in Kaplan Hall at SUNY Orange. Nigro will have 10"x"10 wood panels for each participant, plus paints, brushes, and lots of found objects and pieces of all sorts of things. Since this will become a composite mural, participants will have to choose a theme, impromptu, figuring in what is available to use. The group working together will create a unified piece and the overall size of the composite will be determined by the number of participants. This event is free and open to the public. There is no registration; just come.

Nigro is an interdisciplinary artist who has an MFA from the College of Art & Design, Lesley University in Boston. Her versatile artistic background in the fine arts has greatly influenced her innovative approach to teaching. Presently she is the art program director of My Kingston Kids as well as being a teaching artist for the Bronx Council on the Arts workshop series. Her photography and photo jewelry exhibit, Everyday Latin America, is on view in the Mindy Ross Gallery now through November 21, 2018.
