The Summer Institute 2011
Immerse yourself in skill development!
The Summer Institute is designed to help new and continuing students who wish to develop their reading, writing and mathematics skills in a 6-week session. For some, it may be to prepare them for college courses, for others it may be to build on the skills they acquired in the past or in a recent semester. Students may take one or two of the classes.
This special learning environment provides both well-trained faculty and an experienced tutor in each class. Small classes of 18 to 20 will allow more time for individual attention. Each day there will be a time called "Campus Connections" between classes with refreshments provided by the college. In a relaxed, friendly and comfortable atmosphere, the coordinator, advisor, and tutors help students adjust to campus life. Teachers may be available and students can start a study group, discuss academic and student services topics with the staff, or simply relax with their classmates. The campus connections calendar will be updated throughout the summer.
To fully benefit from the Summer Institute, it is recommended that students be available for the full morning to participate in the Writing Center lab and Campus Connections.
