Frequently Asked Questions
What is SUNY Orange BIT?
The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is a collaborative interdisciplinary committee of college professionals that receives concerns and reports regarding student behavior, discusses these concerns and reports, and determines what type of intervention is needed to assist the student.
What types of Behavior should be referred to the BIT?
When in doubt, please report. Your reported concerns could be critical to the BIT as we seek to determine whether an expressed concern is an isolated event or a sign that a student has more serious issues.
Won't I be betraying my students' trust if I report?
If you are concerned about a student's behavior, the primary concern is the well-being of that student and those around him/her. Many students are grateful when faculty and staff take action to assist and protect them. Please share your concerns with BIT.
Who has access to the BIT reports when they are submitted?
After you submit a report from the "File a Report" page, Paul Broadie, Vice President of Student Services will be sent the report.
