Scholarships for Entering Freshmen

FROMMER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

A need-based scholarship awarded to a graduate of Valley Central High School who plans on entering SUNY Orange as a full-time student. Preference will be given to a student who plans on studying in the computer technology field. The scholarship may be awarded to a student who plans on studying in the academic fields of math, science or the health professions. Awarded by Valley Central High School.

GOLDSCHMIDT (CARY) SCHOLARSHIP

A need-based scholarship awarded annually to a full-time entering student who graduated from Washingtonville High School. Student must display leadership. Awarded by Washingtonville High School.

INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Awarded to 20 students from Orange County high schools who participate in the sports of baseball, men's and women's basketball, and softball and plan to enter Orange County Community College as a full-time student. Selection of students for these scholarships will be based upon NJCAA guidelines. (Awarded by the Coaches).

KIWANIS CLUB OF MIDDLETOWN SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded annually to an entering Middletown High School graduate based upon merit. Key Club member given preference. Awarded by Middletown High School.

KRINEY (JAKE) FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded annually to a entering Orange County High School graduate with a B average and shows strong leadership skills. Recipient will retain scholarship for a second year if he or she maintains a 3.0 average and has accumulated at least 24 credits at the end of their first year of study.

MARK (BERTHA & NATHAN) MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded annually to an entering freshman who demonstrates financial need and academic potential.

MCLAUGHLIN (SPENCER) SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded to an graduating senior at a high school located in Orange County who is also a resident of Orange County and plans on studying at SUNY Orange.

MENTER (MAX) MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded to an entering Middletown area student majoring in Business who displays academic potential.

OTTAWAY JR. (JAMES) HONORS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP

Full-tuition scholarships awarded to two high school graduates in the top 10% of their class or maintain a cumulative grade point average of 92.5 of better. Students must: 1) carry a full-time class load, 2) maintain enrollment in the SUNY Orange Honors Program, and 3) achieve a 3.2 GPA. (Awarded by the Honors Coordinator).

REYNOLDS (GRACE) MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded to graduates of Goshen High School planning to attend Orange County Community College. Selected by the high school. Awarded by Goshen High School

ROTARY CLUB OF MIDDLETOWN SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded annually to a full-time entering freshman based upon merit. Awarded by Middletown High School.

SHEPARD (GEORGE) SCHOLARSHIP

Need-based scholarship awarded to six graduates from any Orange County high school who demonstrate financial need and academic potential.

SPAGNOLI (RAY AND MADELINE) SCHOLARSHIP

A need-based scholarship awarded to a graduate of Pine Bush High School who plans on entering SUNY Orange as a full-time student. Preference will be given to a student who plans on studying engineering. The scholarship may be awarded to a student who plans on studying in the academic fields of math, science or the health professions. Awarded by Pine Bush High School.

SUNY ORANGE BOARD OF TRUSTESS SCHOLARSHIP

A need-based scholarship awarded annual to a resident of Orange County who plans on entering SUNY Orange as a full time student. Student must have graduated with an 85 average or better. Student must demonstrate participation in community service activities or volunteer efforts.

SWEENEY (HANORAH M. "DOLLIE") MIDDLETOWN HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded to a Middletown High School graduate entering Orange County Community College full-time who demonstrates financial need, but does not qualify through the regular financial aid process. Awarded by Middletown High School.

SWEENEY (HANORAH M. "DOLLIE") MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR ESL STUDENTS

Awarded to an entering freshman without a high school diploma or GED (or graduate of a foreign high school not recognized) where English is their second language and they possess the desire to become proficient enough in English to enter and obtain a college degree. Students must demonstrate financial need but be deemed ineligible for such assistance through regularly established financial need. Scholarship covers the cost of tuition, fees and books for a least two developmental courses.

SIEGEL (CORKEY) SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded annually to a new student who is a graduate from an Orange County High School, has a minimum high school academic average of C or better, is recommended by his/her High School Music Teacher and attends to major in Music at SUNY Orange. Recommendations letters, high school transcript and evidence the student has applied for admissions to SUNY Orange and intents to study music should be received no later than May 30th.
