Other participants in the ceremony will include: Orange County Executive Edward Diana, Chancellor of the State University of New York Robert King, and President of the College Governance Dr. James Lynch. Following the ceremony there will be a reception for Dr. Richards and his family in the Orange Hall Gallery.

MIDDLETOWN You know youre good at what you do.
How do you let the job market know?
You could hire a professional resume service, but since current conventional wisdom has it that you should send tailored, individual resumes out to each potential employer, that could get expensive.
You could, instead, learn how to do it yourself for free at SUNY Orange.
The Career Services Office will hold two workshops this month for job seekers. Cover Letters and Resumes will be offered on Tuesday, March 16 at the colleges Newburgh Extension Center, Room 208, at One Washington Center in the Key Bank Building, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Naming Your Skills will be offered on Thursday, March 18, in the College Commons, Room 337, at the Middletown campus at 115 South Street. The workshops are free and open to students and the public.
Naming your skills is being able to recognize those abilities that are pertinent to the labor market, which are vital to your resume, says Carol Wentzel, coordinator of Career Services at SUNY Orange.
This ability is especially important, she says, for individuals who may have been out of the workforce for some time. For example, stay-at-home mothers dont always give themselves credit for skills theyve developed through bake sales and volunteer activities: these skills can translate on a resume to time management and organization.
Entry level college graduates often have a lot of book knowledge, says Wentzel, but they dont understand how this translates to skills statements that are appropriate for a resume. Re-careering individuals sometimes dont know how skills can transfer from one job to another, but theyre certainly most applicable.
Wentzel spends at least an hour a day on a SUNY database of successful resumes that is, resumes that have actually resulted in jobs for the seekers to keep abreast of what works and what doesnt. You have to keep on top of it, she says.
For more information about the workshops, please call the Career Services Office at (845) 341-4444.

MIDDLETOWN Orange County Community Colleges Field Studies program is offering an opportunity for students and the public this May 17-25 to travel to Poland, including Warsaw and the Baltic region. The trip can accommodate up to 25 travelers and will cost up to $1639, including travel, hotel and breakfast.
The major benefit of traveling with the college is not only the reasonable price, but the added bonus of traveling with a historian, which can enrich the experience.
The cost of the trip may be lower if there are a full 25 people traveling.
This is a unique travel opportunity, says Dr. Frank Kalesnik, the assistant professor at SUNY Orange who is sponsoring the trip. This is an area rich in history and culture, and reasonable in price and because of the collapse of Communism, this is an area of the world that was unavailable to visit just ten years ago.
Kalesnik says Poland is putting a major effort into restoring its cultural landmarks, including Malbork Castle, the largest Gothic fortress in Europe and a stop on the tour.
Warsaw is an impressive city, he says. It features architecture
from the medieval period all the way through the modern.
Other cities on the tour include Golub and Gdansk. The deadline for sign-ups
is March 19.
For more information, please call Dr. Kalesnik at (845) 341-4344.
