SUNY Orange Summer Orchestra to hold Fifth Annual Summer Concert

The SUNY Orange Community Orchestra will hold its Fifth Annual Summer Concert at 7:00 pm on Saturday, July 10, on the Alumni Green of the Middletown campus of Orange County Community College at 115 South Street. Under the direction of Dr. Hilarie Clark Moore, the orchestra will perform a program of light classics in a casual setting. The concert features “A Chorus Line,” “Chicago,” R. Strauss’s “Rosenkavalier Waltz,” Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours” from “La Gioconda”, Suppe’s “Light Cavalry Overture,” Fucik’s “Florentiner Marsch,” Sousa marches, and more.

The beautiful three-acre lawn is a perfect place to enjoy a picnic supper while enjoying classical music. The informal atmosphere provides a good opportunity to introduce the “classics” to children, who are welcome to roam the Alumni Green. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the College Commons Cafeteria.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information on the concert or on the orchestra, please call the Arts and Communication Department at 341- 4787.

The Educational Foundation was established in 1987 as a not-for-profit corporation. Funds donated to the Foundation are used for academic equipment, scholarships and The Distinguished Lecture series. Contributions for academic equipment not only help the college to maintain its traditional standard of academic excellence but also enable us to keep up with the ever-changing world of technology.

Scholarships are also provided by donations to the Educational Foundation and are critical to students being able to fulfill their academic and career goals. Through the generosity of donors, the Foundation awards over $50,000 per year in financial assistance. The Distinguished Lecture Series is a fund-raising venture that gives something back in the form of academic programming to the community.

The Educational Foundation is administered by Orange County Community College's Office of Institutional Advancement.
