PBIE Minutes Thursday October 14, 2010 Present: Michelle Tubbs, Chair; Cory Harris, Co-chair; Cynthia Richichi, Ming Wang, Kathleen Zurilla, Christine Work, Ilene Castaldo, Amanda Stiebel, Debbie Horowitz, Josephina Vondras, Jo Ann Hamburg 1. The minutes of Oct. 7th were approved by vote, with amendments which will be made by Chair, Michelle Tubbs. 2. PIP System Planning Process Feedback Survey Update (C. Work): Responses are currently at 16. Aggregate data on results will be discussed at a future meeting. 3. Update on meetings with VP’s, AVP’s Dept/Unit Heads: Co-chair reported that R. Heppner will not be available for the October 28th meeting. He will try to appoint a representative. The November 4th meeting will not be possible for Academic Affairs; the meeting on November 11 will be dedicated to Academic Affairs. The Chair suggested that we utilize the November 4th meeting to discuss the non-academic affairs proposals which we have previously discussed. The Chair reminded committee members that each member is expected to update their respective departments/divisions on the progress of the committee thus far this semester. *Kathleen Zurilla updated the committee on the rationale for the Nursing Department request to have dedicated video conference equipment: the equipment is needed to ensure ongoing communication of faculty between the Middletown and Newburgh campuses when parallel nursing programs will be operating on the two respective campuses. Also, some nursing courses may be offered on only one campus, with teleconference capability enhancing the opportunity for students from both campuses to be enrolled in the course. 4. Discussion of the last 16 initiatives: (#30-46): Committee members discussed the remaining initiatives: purpose of the initiatives; points needing clarification; relationship to student needs; process of program development which might need to be finalized before an initiative for establishing a new program is loaded on to the PIP system. The Chair raised the issue of clarifying that an initiative which is already approved, but not yet implemented, should not be loaded on to the PIP system the following year. 5. Next meeting: discussion on the results of feedback surveys. Respectfully submitted, Beverley Marchesani Approved 10/21/10
