Spring 2008 Collaborative Faculty Partnerships. Collaborative Faculty Partnerships: Bridging the Academic Gap by Developing Common Academic Expectations Secondary and postsecondary educators will work collaboratively to create academic and assessment strategies that promote students' academic success. They will work in pairs by shared content areas to develop and implement a specific project to increase students' academic performance and critical thinking skills. They will also identify practical and meaningful assessment tools to evaluate students’ learning. These faculty members will share their results with colleagues in a variety of ways. Each participating faculty member will receive a $700 stipend for their complete involvement over a full year's commitment. OUr Goals are to: .Identify shared expectations for students' success .Increase students’ academic performance .Promote collaborative efforts amongsecondary and postsecondary educators .Identify effective and meaningful strategies for learning assessment .Obtain quantifiable results to share with colleagues across settings. Early May: Meet with partner as necessary to jointly develop a unit of study, or project. Share your project in writing with the group (2 hours). May 21, 2008, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Incorporate suggestions and present project to the entire group at a meeting (3 hours). June/July/August (Due date is August 25, 2008): Refine and report on project development via email (3 hours). SeptemberNovember: Projects and assessment strategies are fully implemented using quantifiable measures (3 hours). December 3, 2008, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Findings are presented/shared with the College and the High School colleagues. Information will also be posted online (3 hours).
