Handicapped SignThe Office of Disability Services of SUNY Orange's Division of Student Affairs strives to provide qualified students with disabilities, whether temporary or permanent, with essential services that will help them achieve their academic, vocational and personal goals. Support services and academic accommodations allow students with disabilities equal access to all programs at the college.

Eligibility

A student is eligible for services if they are considered a person with a disability that affects a major life activity, have identified themselves to the institution, have presented recent documentation regarding the disability to the institution, and need academic accommodations.

FERPA

Under the Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) no person from the college can discuss confidential information, which includes anything related to grades or disabilities, with parents, without permission from the student. At the high school level the legal relationship is between the school district and the parents; at the college level, the legal relationship is between the college and the student.
