Concert will Combine Musical Numbers Reflecting Traditions of Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The SUNY Orange Symphonic Band will celebrate the holiday season with an 8 p.m. concert at Middletown’s Paramount Theater on Dec. 7, showcasing music that reflects the holiday traditions of Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa.

Entitled “’Tis the Reason for the Season,” the concert will feature the following selections: James Curnow’s “Overture to a Winter Festival”; James Hosay’s “For Unto You is Born This Day!”; Sean O’Loughlin’s “Imani”; a symphonic suite of music from the TV cartoon classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”; and additional works by Leroy Anderson, Calvin Custer, Percy Grainger and Leroy Osmon.

The band, under the direction of Kevin Scott, is comprised of SUNY Orange students and members of the community. General admission tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. The Paramount Theater is located at 17 South Street.
