“Dr. Richards has a special place in the hearts of everyone who serves on the Foundation Board, for he accomplished so much through his vision and commitment to bring more private funds to the fore in support of students and the College,” said Terry Saturno, chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “There are many excellent choices of how to memorialize Bill, but we believe that Bill would heartily agree that scholarship support is a welcome choice. The Foundation is pleased to help the William and Helen Scholarship grow through this match and we view it as a fitting memorial to all that Dr. Richards accomplished during his time with us.”

SUNY Orange intends to organize a local remembrance event in honor of the College’s seventh president. The Richards family has expressed a desire to attend that event, so it will be arranged for a future date that is suitable for the family. More information will be forthcoming as details are finalized.

Contributions to the William and Helen Richards Scholarship Fund can be made by check or credit card. Checks can be mailed to the SUNY Orange Foundation, 115 South Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Credit card contributions can be made online. Contributions must be submitted by Nov. 30 to be eligible for the match. The Foundation match is currently capped at an aggregate of $25,000.
