Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Commends College for Outstanding Work

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Accreditation for SUNY Orange’s seven academic degree programs that comprise its business curriculum has been reaffirmed for the next 10 years by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), which also applauded the College for having demonstrated exemplary quality across all facets of its business programming.

The accreditation, effective through 2025, was reaffirmed for the following degree programs: accounting (available as an Associate in Science or an Associate in Applied Science degree), business administration, business management, marketing, medical office assistant and office technologies. Originally accredited by ACBSP in 1995, this marks the College’s second successful reaffirmation process.

“The Board of Commissioners ... voted to grant reaffirmation of accreditation to SUNY Orange with no notes or conditions and opportunities for improvement,” noted Steve Parscale, ACBSP’s chief accreditation officer, in his letter of accreditation to the College. “It is extremely rare that a school receives accreditation without notes, conditions, and OFI’s given ACBSP’s Core Value of Continuous Improvement and Organizational Learning.

“This accreditation is evidence that SUNY Orange is committed to providing the highest quality business education for its students for the next 10 years, just as it has done since 1995,” Parscale added.

“This is indeed wonderful news for the College in general, and our more than 750 business students in particular,” said Dr. Kristine Young, SUNY Orange president. “Suzanne Krissler, chair of the Business Department, and her entire staff are to be commended for assuring our students receive excellent instruction and support on a daily basis, and for demonstrating that to the ACBSP team in such a resounding fashion.”

Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the Business Department at SUNY Orange meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

Parscale will present the Certificate of Reaffirmation of Accreditation in Atlanta, Ga., on June 19 during the 2016 ACBSP Conference. For more information on SUNY Orange's business degree programs, contact Krissler at (845) 341-4411.
