SUNY ORANGE CHAMBER ENSEMBLE TO HOLD HOLIDAY CONCERT DEC. 5

String and Woodwind Instrumentalists to Perform in College’s Stately Morrison Hall Mansion

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- The SUNY Orange Chamber Ensemble will provide an evening of music from such noted classical composers as Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolgang Mozart, Gioachino Rossini, Maurice Ravel, Francis Poulenc, Ignacio Cervantes and more at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5 in Morrison Hall on the College’s Middletown campus.

Concert patrons can return to the days of live classical music being performed in elegant homes as the Chamber Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Hilarie Clark Moore, fills the stately century old mansion with a varied program of musical styles from across the ages. The concert is offered in conjunction with the College’s annual Holiday Open House at Morrison Hall, which will run from 1 to 5 p.m. on the weekends of Dec. 5-6 and 12-13. Admission to the concert is free.

The quartet of Anita Dynam (violin), Autumn Mason (violin), Matthew Tymczsyn (viola) and Milan Hanley-Rhone (bass) will open the program with performances of Rossini’s “Two Pieces from the String Sonatas” and Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525.”

Flutists Donna Lavins and Patricia Eisenhart will perform a selection from Felix Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and Jacques Naudot’s “Sonata for Two Flutes.” Jessica Armstrong (flute), Joanna Simon (oboe), Sarah Maurer (clarinet) and Lara Patel (bassoon) will follow with Michel Rondau’s “Suite à Trois,” Malcolm Arnold’s “Divertimento for Flute, Oboe and Clarinet,” and Ravel’s “Trois Chansons.”

The program will conclude with Bach’s “Little Fugue in G Minor,” Cervantes’ “Six Cuban Dances” and Poulenc’s “Novelette in C Major” all performed by the quintet of Dan Teare (flute), Joel Simon (oboe), Allan Plumb (clarinet), Ryan Cerullo (bassoon) and Barbara Sardone (French horn).
