Incoming and Returning Students to be Celebrated During Event in Orange Hall Theatre

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- SUNY Orange will hold its Fall scholarship and awards ceremony at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2 in Orange Hall Theatre. The annual event recognizes those incoming and returning students who have received scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year.

Scholarship donors Helen Bartlett, of Walden N.Y., and Jim Williams from, of Newburgh, will serve as guest speakers. Bartlett will discuss the scholarship she established in memory of her husband “Bucky” and Williams will talk about the Williams Family scholarships. In addition, engineering student Ross Pavelka, of West Point, will offer remarks on behalf of the scholarship recipients.

Approximately 170 students are on tap to be recognized. In all during the upcoming academic year, the SUNY Orange Foundation expects to award close to $350,000 in scholarships. The vast majority of SUNY Orange scholarships are funded through the generosity of donors and friends of the College.


Annually, SUNY Orange issues scholarships to incoming, returning and graduating students. Incoming and returning students receive their awards at the outset of the Fall semester while graduating scholarship recipients are honored each spring during the week of Commencement.
