A gathering of more than 60 paid tribute to attendee Alice Fellenzer, a respected local childcare advocate who founded the College’s Kindercollege childcare program on the Middletown campus in 1984. With recent construction of the Morrison Lab School on the SUNY Orange Middletown campus, along with a renovated childcare space in the Tower Building on the College’s Newburgh campus, the Kindercollege program has grown into a Lab School format that also supports and enhances the learning environment for students in SUNY Orange’s education and early childhood development programs. Longtime Kindercollege and Lab School employee Mary Ellen O’Neill was also honored for her service to the College and its legions of childcare students over the years.

In addition to the brunch reception, there were games for the children, a silent auction and tours of the Newburgh campus Lab School. Child care is available for children, from infants through pre-school age, of SUNY Orange students and employees, as well as members of the local community. Each of the College's Lab School locations also operates Pre-K programming in conjunction with their respective local school district (Enlarged City School District of Middletown and the Newburgh Enlarged City School District).
