2/16/2015 (UPDATED 2/18/2015)

Two-Day Interviews Set for Three Candidates; Community Will Have Opportunities to Participate

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The SUNY Orange Presidential Search Committee has identified three candidates who have accepted the invitation to participate in two-day interviews, scheduled during the weeks of Feb. 23 and March 2, and members of the community will have the opportunity to meet the candidates during open forums planned for both campuses.

The names of the candidates cannot be released publicly until due diligence reports have been completed. As those reports are finalized, SUNY Orange will announce the candidates, identify their scheduled interview days and provide biographical information. Throughout the process, up-to-date materials can be found on the College’s Presidential Search website at http://www.sunyorange.edu/presidential_search/.

Interviews are scheduled on the following dates: Feb. 25-26 (Wednesday/Thursday), March 2-3 (Monday/Tuesday) and March 4-5 (Wednesday/Thursday).

Open forums for community members will be held on the Middletown campus from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25; Monday, March 2; and Wednesday, March 4. These events will be in the Alan and Sandra Gerry Forum in the Rowley Center for Science and Engineering. Open forums on the Newburgh campus will be held from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. in the Great Room of Kaplan Hall on Thursday, Feb. 26; Tuesday, March 3; and Thursday, March 5.

The College’s Board of Trustees appointed the 27-member search committee last September and named Trustee Joan Wolfe as its Chair. The committee is comprised of Trustees, community members, students, faculty and staff. It has been reviewing applications since early December and recently completed an initial round of in-person interviews that led to the selection of the four candidates.

In announcing the selection of the four finalists, Board of Trustees Chair Helen Ullrich expressed her appreciation of the committee’s work.

“I am extremely grateful for the remarkable effort put forth by the members of the search committee and Chair Wolfe. They took their role seriously and understood the impact this hire will have upon the future of the College,” Ullrich said. “They were extraordinarily diligent and spent many hours narrowing down the choices to the best candidates. I know the entire Board of Trustees joins me in appreciation for Joan’s and the committee’s work.”

“Now that the behind-the-scenes work has been done, we all look forward to introducing the candidates to the College community as well as to our friends within the community-at-large.”
