Registration Deadlines in February for Sessions to be Held in February and March

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – SUNY Orange, through its Continuing and Professional Education programming, is offering three security guard training courses starting in February and March, with course availability on both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses. Registration deadlines for all courses are upcoming.

Space is available in the 8-Hour Security Guard Pre-Assignment Training, the 16-Hour Security Guard On-the-Job Training, and the 8-Hour Security Guard Annual Refresher courses. Those who complete the pre-assignment training and on-the-job training classes will take a mandated exam required to receive a New York State-issued certificate for license or certificate of completion. Students in the refresher course will receive a certificate of completion.

Classes are offered in four-hour blocks, from 8 a.m. to Noon, on Saturdays (two sessions needed for the eight-hour courses and four sessions comprise the 16-hour course).

Licensed security guards patrol industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. They answer alarms and investigate disturbances; monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft; and maintain security of premises.
