12/10/2014

Tours of Medieval Castles, Renaissance Churches, Synagogues and More Planned for May 2015 Excursion

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- The SUNY Orange Global Studies Department is sponsoring a May 2015 trip to the Eastern European Baltic States of Lithuania and Latvia, with tours of the beautiful old European cities of Riga, Vilnius and Kaunas on tap.

Visits to those featured cities--with their rich history from medieval times through Tsarist, Nazi and Soviet domination to the present--will be enhanced with tours of Medieval castles, Renaissance churches, Jewish synagogues, Holocaust sites, locations of Pagan folklore, and more.

Travelers will learn about the history, social and religious diversity, and political conflict in this crossroads region between Eastern and Western Europe.

The trip will run from May 14-24. Attendees will have two pricing options: $2,200, with budget hotel accommodations; or $2,500, for better hotel options. Prices assume double-occupancy. The single room hotel supplement is $315. Breakfast at the hotel will be provided each morning, but lunches and dinners are not included in the cost. All transportation costs will be covered, including air fare and bus transportation to and from all airports.

The trip is open to SUNY Orange students, faculty and members of the general community. A deposit of $500 is due by Jan. 25, 2015.
