Will Receive Award During Orange County Partnership's Annual Networking Event at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor

PHOTO: Dr. William RichardfsMIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The Orange County Partnership will present Dr. William Richards, SUNY Orange president, with its Quality of Life Award during the organization's annual Networking Event set for 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor.

The Quality of Life Award recognizes excellence in leadership involving the creation, maintenance or enhancement of life in Orange County. Dr. John D’Ambrosio, former president of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, will also receive a Quality of Life Award at the event. Each will each receive this award for his vision for educating the county’s current and future business leaders.

The Partnership’s annual Networking Event celebrates the year’s corporate attractions and expansions. Attendees at this year’s event will include major corporate decision makers and elected officials from the Mid-Hudson region. Integral to the evening’s program are three award categories which recognize outstanding Orange County citizens and companies.

Maureen Halahan, President and CEO of the Orange County Partnership, stated, “I am particularly pleased to announce this year’s recipients as they reflect the diversity of economic growth that Orange County is currently experiencing.”

Additional awards to be distributed include:

  • The Spirit of Innovation Award recognizes exceptional initiative that epitomizes the forward-thinking spirit of Orange County. USAI Lighting will receive this award for its research, development and engineering of innovative personalized lighting.
  • The Golden Shovel Award recognizes a vision to further responsible growth that helps strengthen and diversify the economy in Orange County. The Alliance for Balanced Growth, a standing committee of the Orange County Partnership, will recognize aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney Advanced Coating Technologies which is investing $140 million outfitting and upgrading an approximately 70,000-square-foot building on Tower Drive in the Town of Wallkill.

KT McFarland, a renowned voice in the area of global politics and national security, will serve as the keynote speaker. Her keynote address will close the program and will speak to numerous business and political topics, including her vision of an imminent “American Awakening” based on our inherent ingenuity, entrepreneurship and inventiveness.

McFarland is an alumnus of three presidential administrations. She worked as an aide to Dr. Henry Kissinger on the National Security Council, was a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and Pentagon Spokesperson. For her work in the Reagan administration, she received the Distinguished Service Award, the highest defense department award for a civilian. KT is a national security analyst on Fox News and Fox Business News, anchors the show “DEFCON 3” and writes regular columns on topics such as cyber theft and emerging global hotspots.
