Pine Bush Resident Elected by Peers; Will Represent Fellow Students

PHOTO: Allison ReidMIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Pine Bush resident Allison Reid officially began her one-year term as SUNY Orange’s student Trustee on Wednesday evening (Sept. 17) when she was sworn in by chairman Joan Wolfe during the College’s first Board of Trustees meeting of the 2014-15 academic year.

As the student Trustee, Reid will represent the College’s nearly 6,000 students at Board meetings and other special College events. A graduate of Pine Bush High School in 2009, Reid is pursuing a degree in early childhood education and care.

In other business, the Board of Trustees approved a new slate of officers for 2014-15, installing Helen G. Ullrich as the new board chair along with Margaret Murphy as vice chair and Fred Watson as secretary.

Reid has been heavily involved in student activities at SUNY Orange and is entering her third semester as a student senator. She was president of the Middletown campus Board of Activities for two years and remains an active member of that organization. She has been a member of the Future Teachers Association Club and has received two “Improving Campus Life” awards.

Reid also has completed volunteer work for the Walden Humane Society and Heritage Riding for The Handicapped in Chester, N.Y.

Her one-year term will conclude at the Board’s June 2015 meeting.
