Noon Ceremony on New Year's Day Planned for Physical Education Building on Middletown Campus

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. –Steve Neuhaus will be sworn in as Orange County's sixth county executive on Jan. 1 at SUNY Orange in a ceremony that also will usher two other Republicans into county offices: David Hoovler, the new district attorney; and incoming County Clerk Annie Rabbitt.

The event will take place at noon in the Physical Education building at the College's Middletown campus, located at 115 South St.

Neuhaus, the Chester town supervisor since 2008, will succeed Ed Diana, the Republican who has held the county's top office since 2002.

Neuhaus, who was 39 when elected in November, will be Orange's youngest county executive since the office was created in 1970.

Hoovler and Rabbitt are replacing District Attorney Frank Phillips and County Clerk Donna Benson, both longtime officeholders who didn't run for re-election.
