Orange Hall Theatre to Come Alive with Traditional Jazz Numbers

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- The SUNY Orange Jazz Ensemble will feature a program of traditional jazz favorites when it conducts is annual Fall concert at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22 in Orange Hall Theatre on the College’s Middletown campus.

Audience members will be treated to the improvisational expressions of nearly 20 student musicians and vocalists who have devised a musical program that will feature traditional pieces such as “Take Five,” “Freddy Freeloader,” “Maiden Voyage” and “Nostalgia in Times Square,” as well as standards such as “Cry Me a River,” “When Sunny Gets Blue” and “Black Coffee.”

The featured performers include Ashleigh Basset, Kalah Hill and Ciara Martinez (vocals); Justin Bourne and Matt Sepulveda (trumpets); Brian Jersey (alto saxophone); Matt Gould, Mike Huber, John Lindstrom, Byron Pitts, Howard Soderstrom and Peter Stika (guitars); Lou Balascio, Carl Darrigo and Ted Rosa (piano and keyboards); Anthony Raucci (bass); and Warren McKinzie (drums). The Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of James Emery.
