Four-Session Course Will Show Students How to Put Their Artistic Talents to Use

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Instructor Bill Graziano will show students how to put their artistic talents to use in new ways by using materials found in nature during a new non-credit Encaustic Monotype Printing Course offered through SUNY Orange’s Continuing and Professional Education department.

During this hands-on workshop-style class, students will explore the luminous beauty of encaustic art, an ancient, easy and inexpensive art form in which items are printed using molten, pigmented beeswax. Students will create prints using a variety of techniques.

The course will meet for four sessions, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays from Nov. 7 through Dec. 5 (class will not meet on Nov. 21) at the Devitt Center for Botany and Horticulture on the College’s Middletown campus. Cost is $65. Equipment, tools and materials will be provided. A $10 materials fee will be collected at the first class.
