Event on Middletown Campus to Celebrate National Poetry Month; Outdoor Readings Set from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

PHOTO: Poetry on the GreenMIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- In celebration of National Poetry Month, the SUNY Orange English Department will hold its second annual “Poetry on the Green” event, a daylong reading of poetry scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 17 on the Alumni Green at the College’s Middletown campus.

Readers will include award-winning poet Mary Makofske, of Warwick, and English Department faculty members Diane Bliss, Amanda Crowell, Jim Givant, Lynn Houston, Alex Jakubowski, Kristen Katzin-Nystrom, Don Parker and Anna Rosen. Students and others from the College will also be reading from their own works or delivering their favorite authors’ poetry.

The event is free and open to the general public. In the event of rain, the readings will be moved indoors to the Fireplace Lounge in the Shepard Student Center.
