Will Showcase Non-Credit Programs for Students Who Want to Train at Home for a Career in Healthcare

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Orange County residents interested in training at home for a rewarding career in the growing healthcare industry are invited to attend SUNY Orange’s informational Healthcare Open House, hosted by the Continuing Education staff, at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10 in the Gilman Center for International Education on the College’s Middletown campus.

This fall, the College is once again offering non-credit online programs for Medical Transcription as well as Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Coding and Billing. Both courses will begin in October. The highly interactive medical coding and billing program prepares students to sit for the industry certification exams administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). A significant portion of the coursework will be spent training on the encoding software used by many industry employers, preparing students for a successful transition to the workplace.

By the conclusion of the Medical Transcription course, students will have transcribed hundreds of authentic dictations, on their own schedule and at their own pace, and will have developed the knowledge and skills of a quality medical transcriptionist as they prepare to sit for the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) exam administered by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI).

For more information, contact the SUNY Orange Continuing Education office at (845) 341-4890, or visit the CAPE web site. The College also offers many other vocational and enrichment courses for residents of the Hudson Valley.
