SUNY Orange Continuing and Professional Education Adds Trio of Adobe Classes to Roster of Offerings

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Through its Continuing and Professional Education programming, SUNY Orange will offer three new Adobe-related introductory computer graphic design classes at its Newburgh campus in 2012, beginning with “Adobe Photoshop - An Introduction” over two Monday sessions in late January.

In addition to the introductory course in Photoshop, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on successive Mondays (Jan. 23 and 30), the College will offer “Adobe Illustrator - An Introduction” in February (6 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 13 and 20) and “Adobe InDesign - An Introduction” in April (6 to 9 p.m. on April 2 and 9). Tuition for each two-session course is $120 per student. The classroom location for these courses has yet to be established, but the classes will be held either in Kaplan Hall or the newly renovated Tower Building.

Adobe course descriptions

Adobe Photoshop – An Introduction: Adobe’s Photoshop is the state-of-the-art graphic enhancement program. It is used by graphic designers and photographic artists because of its extensive applications. In this course you will learn to crop and adjust digital images and add filters. Using layers you will be able to create composite pictures. With the clone stamp you will be able to alter the image either by adding to or removing part of the picture. With the select tools, you can decide which portions of the picture to enhance, enlarge, cut or copy.

Adobe Illustrator – An Introduction: Adobe’s Illustrator is a professional design software application. With Illustrator you can incorporate text and graphics to design posters, logos, ads, postcards and much more. You will discover the effects of layering and the ability to create imaginative designs using object, symbols, text and color. Although this is a multi-faceted program, you will be able to create some exciting designs with only a few lessons. Let your imagination do the rest.

Adobe InDesign – An Introduction: Promote your business with Adobe’s Indesign. Create multi-page newsletters, brochures, coupons and other marketing materials. Import text, arrange it in columns, add banner headlines and images.
