Event Moved to Physical Education Building; Attendance Will be Limited but Live Video Stream Planned

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – With an uncertain weather forecast for Saturday morning, very soggy and potentially treacherous conditions that could create safety concerns on the College’s Alumni Green, and a record number of graduates set to participate, SUNY Orange has elected to move its 61st Commencement Ceremony indoors to the Physical Education Building on the Middletown campus at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Because of limited seating in the College gymnasium, SUNY Orange will generate a live video stream of the ceremony and direct overflow crowds from the gymnasium to two other locations on campus: Harriman Hall Room 111 and Orange Hall Theatre. The video stream will also be available via a link from the College’s web site for those who elect to watch the indoor ceremony from the comfort of their own personal laptop, PC, tablet or mobile device rather than attend in person.

Seating will be at a premium in part due to an unprecedented surge in graduates who applied to participate in this year’s Commencement. A record 472 prospective graduates are expected to attend Saturday’s event. The graduates will be allowed no more than five guests each, with admittance to the gymnasium by ticket only. For more information, contact Student Services at (845) 341-4000.
