Six-Part “Mentoring Style” Series to Feature Discussions with Local Business Leaders

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – SUNY Orange’s Continuing Education department and the Orange County Chamber of Commerce will jointly sponsor a six-part “Topics in Leadership” workshop series from late March through mid May at College’s Newburgh campus.

The seminars, to be conducted in a mentoring style and featuring successful leadership stories, will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the following Tuesdays: March 29, April 5, April 26, May 3, May 10, and May 18. They will be held in Room 201 of Kaplan Hall, located at the intersection of Grand and First streets.

Presenters will include Vinnie Cozzolino of The Solar Energy Consortium, Hank DiMarco of IBM, Diannae Ehler of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at Stewart International Airport, Jim Lawler of Crystal Run Village Inc., Carl Meyer of The Solar Energy Consortium, and Hanna Wollocko of Oxyvita.

The speaking schedule is as follows:

March 29 (Tue.), Vinnie Cozzolino

April 5 (TUe.), Diannae Ehler

April 26 (Tue.), Jim Lawler

May 3, (Tue.), Carl Meyer

May 10 (Tue.), Hank DiMarco

May 18 (Wed.), Hanna Wollocko

Seminar presenters will discuss what leadership means to them, share examples of successful leadership they have witnessed during their careers, and offer some advice to future leaders. Time will also be devoted to questions and answers during or after the presentation to allow for productive dialogue between participants and presenters.

“This will be a rare opportunity to spend time with accomplished, successful, executives and have them share their perspectives on leadership and what they have learned,” Cozzolino said. “It is a special opportunity, as one of these leaders, to be able to share this knowledge and hopefully help others grow in their own careers as emerging leaders.”

A group of students from the College’s Liberty Partnership Program in Newburgh is expected to attend the workshops so they may learn more about leadership and success.

The cost, at $49 per person, covers participation in all six workshops. For more information on the “Topics in Leadership” series, contact Linda Gramm Ferris at (845) 341-4380 or via e-mail.
