College Employee to Continue Capital Campaign Work; Strengthen Bond Between College and Foundation

PHOTO: Russell HammondMIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Russell Hammond, who has served as SUNY Orange’s capital campaign director since 2007, has been hired by the SUNY Orange Foundation in a partnership between the Foundation and the College aimed at further strengthening the relationship between the two organizations.

Hammond is now employed by the Foundation but retains the title of associate vice president of resource development as part of SUNY Orange President Dr. William Richards’ leadership team. He is overseeing the College’s “Defining Moments” capital campaign, which has already raised $22.1 million toward its stated goal of $25 million. In addition to continuing his oversight of the capital campaign, Hammond will focus on raising unrestricted funds through annual and planned giving programs that will support the College’s educational mission.

A veteran of more than 16 years in higher education advancement and resource development, Hammond has assisted with raising nearly $100 million. Prior to arriving at SUNY Orange, Hammond spent two years as associate vice president for institutional advancement at Kean University, which followed an 11-year tenure as associate director of the Westchester Community College Foundation.

He also has held senior administrative positions for both public and non-profit agencies, serving adults with developmental disabilities. Hammond earned his bachelor’s degree at C.W. Post College of Long Island University and completed all coursework toward his master’s degree at Western Michigan University. He is presently pursuing his doctorate in education, with a concentration in community college administration.
