Annual Golf Outing at Town of Wallkill Golf Course Yields Another Strong Influx to Scholarship Fund

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The SUNY Orange Foundation’s annual golf outing, held last Thursday (June 24) at the Town of Wallkill Golf Course, generated nearly $34,000 for the College’s annual scholarship fund.

PHOTO: 2010 Golf OutingIn all, 70 golfers participated in the 11th annual “Golfing for Scholarships” event. Golfers were treated to breakfast, lunch, 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, an awards reception and other prizes. The Foundation netted $33,392 to help support the College’s growing scholarship program. Last year, the SUNY Orange Foundation awarded more than $150,000 in scholarships.

SUNY Orange President Dr. William Richards welcomed the golfers in the morning. During the afternoon reception, Richards introduced SUNY Orange baseball standout Josh Depew, who thanked the golfers for their support of the College and explained the importance of scholarships to students at the College.

A foursome from Local 17 won the event with a six-under par 66.
