College Will Host Performance of “The Great American Songbook” at Orange Hall Theatre

GOSHEN, N.Y. – SUNY Orange and SummerStar Theatre will host the Opera Company of the Highlands’ performance of “The Great American Songbook” at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18 in Orange Hall Theatre on the College’s Middletown campus.

“The Great American Songbook” brings to life the golden age of American song and features music and lyrics from Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Oscar Hammerstein II, Cole Porter, Lorenz Hart and Richard Rodgers, with singing by Opera Company performers Rebecca Gordon, Sarah Kraus, Jacob Feldman, and Chad Karl. Lloyd Arriola will provide musical accompaniment.

“The Great American Songbook" brings to life the golden age of American song and features music and lyrics from Harold Arlen (“Over a Rainbow” and “Stormy Weather”), Irving Berlin (“There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “Puttin’ On The Ritz”), George Gershwin (“Summertime” and “The Man I Love”), Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II (“If I Loved You” and “Some Enchanted Evening”), Cole Porter (“Night and Day”), and Leonard Bernstein (“Tonight, Somethin’s Coming”). Opera Company performers Rebecca Gordon, Sarah Kraus, Jacob Feldman and Chad Karl will sing. Lloyd Arriola will provide musical accompaniment.

The Opera Company of the Highlands is a professional not-for-profit opera company headquartered in New Windsor, N.Y.
