SUNY Orange to Establish On-Campus Collection Points for Food Drive During Week of May 18-22

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – SUNY Orange, in collaboration with Leadership Orange, will serve as a collection site for non-perishable food items and non-food essentials during Leadership Orange’s “Feed the Need” week, planned throughout Orange County for the week of May 18-22.

As a result of this current economic downturn, Orange County food pantries are dealing with severe budget cuts and decreases in donations while more and more Orange County residents are becoming reliant on food pantries to survive each day. To address the shortfall in available food and necessities at local pantries, Leadership Orange will be accepting donations non-perishable food and drinks (canned/jarred, dry packages, etc.) as well as non-food items (personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, etc.). Monetary donations will also be accepted and should be forwarded to Leadership Orange, P.O. Box 672, Middletown, NY 10940.

Individuals, businesses, schools, houses of worship, wholesalers, retailers, restaurants, distributors and local farms are invited to participate. To arrange a pick-up or to obtain a list of collection sites contact Leadership Orange at (845) 742- 1393 or via e-mail

SUNY Orange will collect items during regular business hours from Monday, May 18, through Thursday, May 21 (the College is closed on Fridays during the summer) at the following Middletown campus locations: Morrison Hall (2nd Floor), Shepard Student Center (lobby of South St. entrance), and Orange Hall (1st floor, Human Resources Office). At its Newburgh campus, SUNY Orange will stage collection points on each floor of the Tower Building, located at One Washington Center.
