SUNY Orange Symphonic Band to Perform Traditional Favorites and Rare Selections on Dec. 13

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The SUNY Orange Symphonic Band will unveil an eclectic mix of traditional holiday favorites, blended with unusual and rare selections inspired by the season, when it conducts its annual holiday concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 at Middletown’s historic Paramount Theatre, 17 South St.

Entitled “Mo’ Reasons for the Season,” the concert will feature Alfred Reed’s “Russian Christmas Music,” Eric Whitace’s “Lux Aurumque” and the world premiere performance of Rob Vuono Jr.’s arrangement of music for “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Additional selections include Sterling Granger’s “Aura of Love,” Hugh Stuart’s “Winter Carnival,” Caesar Giovanini’s “Ski Run” and Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” which will be guest-conducted by David Weltman.

Additional pieces by Leroy Anderson, Calvin Custer and T. Conway Brown will round out the program.
