Colts to Visit Region XIX Winner Delaware Tech-Owens Campus

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Fresh of its 12th District championship in the past 15 years under head coach Stacey Morris, SUNY Orange's women's softball team will battle Delaware Tech-Owens campus this weekend in the District G qualifier. The winner of the best of three series will advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship tournament.

The Colts (23-11) earned their trip to the district event by capturing their third consecutive Region XXI title this past weekend. Delaware Tech (20-8) captured the Region XIX title and earned the right to host the district matchup. Game times for this weekend (May 3 and 4) are TBA.

The Colts started the weekend by beating Dean College 8-0 and CCRI 5-2 on Saturday. Pitchers Courtney Spreer and Ashlee Renwick both picked up wins. Against Dean, Jenn Stefanowicz went 2 for 3 with a home run, Renwick was 2 for 3 with two RBI and Christie Alvarez was 3 for 4.

In the CCRI game, Renwick was 2 for 3, and Chelsea Gallagher went 3 for 4. Sunday's championship game pitted the Colts against CCRI again. SUNY Orange won 6-1 behind the outstanding pitching of Spreer, who scattered four hits and struck out four.

Kaitlyn Andryshak was 2 for 4 and Stefanowicz went 4 for 4 on the day, capped off with a monstrous two run home run.
